Brad has been studying Chinese Medicine in one form or another for over twenty years. He gained interest in Chinese medicine while he was growing up in Eastern Kentucky when he attended a Qigong class about an hour away from his hometown. In the course of engaging in a martial movement practice he noticed that he no longer needed the antihistamines he had relied on since childhood.
After several years of martial practice, he decided that he wanted to formally study Chinese Medicine and enrolled at Oregon College of Oriental Medicine (OCOM). He studied with doctors in China after graduating from OCOM in 2007.
Brad is a founding member of The International Society For The Study of Classical Acupuncture.
Brad continually works to bring the classical Chinese medicinal traditions into modern clinical practice, using a wide range of approaches, including: acupuncture, moxibustion, qigong, tuina, cupping, as well as internal & external herbs.
As a foundation, Brad considers himself a classical, or Nejing style acupuncturist. He believes that Chinese medical practice is best approached without the idea of any condition based expertise, as the body (inclusive of the psyche) is regarded as a continuous whole. In this framework the restoration of natural movement within the system of the body alleviates present symptoms however they manifest.
That being said, he feels skilled in working with: digestive issues, musculoskeletal pain and injury, psycho-emotional issues (depression & anxiety), and hormonal issues.
